Human Evolution: New Playgrounds for Natural Selection
نویسندگان
چکیده
Despite popular misconceptions, natural selection does operate in modern human populations. New studies even show that changes associated with modernization are deeply reshaping selection pressures and, perhaps, bits of our biological nature.

A Differential Evolution and Spatial Distribution based Local Search for Training Fuzzy Wavelet Neural Network
Abstract Many parameter-tuning algorithms have been proposed for training Fuzzy Wavelet Neural Networks (FWNNs). Absence of appropriate structure, convergence to local optima and low speed in learning algorithms are deficiencies of FWNNs in previous studies. In this paper, a Memetic Algorithm (MA) is introduced to train FWNN for addressing aforementioned learning lacks. Differential Evolution...
متن کاملNiche construction, biological evolution, and cultural change.
We propose a conceptual model that maps the causal pathways relating biological evolution to cultural change. It builds on conventional evolutionary theory by placing emphasis on the capacity of organisms to modify sources of natural selection in their environment (niche construction) and by broadening the evolutionary dynamic to incorporate ontogenetic and cultural processes. In this model, ph...
متن کاملA New Approach to Project Risk Responses Selection with Inter-dependent Risks
Risks are natural and inherent characteristics of major projects. Risks are usually considered independently in analysis of risk responses. However, most risks are dependent on each other and dependent risks are rare in the real world. This paper proposes a model for proper risk response selection from the responses portfolio with the purpose of optimization of defined criteria for projects. Th...
متن کاملPhylogenetic Analysis of Three Long Non-coding RNA Genes: AK082072, AK043754 and AK082467
Now, it is clear that protein is just one of the most functional products produced by the eukaryotic genome. Indeed, a major part of the human genome is transcribed to non-coding sequences than to the coding sequence of the protein. In this study, we selected three long non-coding RNAs namely AK082072, AK043754 and AK082467 which show brain expression and local region conservation among vertebr...
متن کاملFive rules for the evolution of cooperation.
Cooperation is needed for evolution to construct new levels of organization. Genomes, cells, multicellular organisms, social insects, and human society are all based on cooperation. Cooperation means that selfish replicators forgo some of their reproductive potential to help one another. But natural selection implies competition and therefore opposes cooperation unless a specific mechanism is a...
